Worzel Gummidge (1979)
Worzel Gummidge is a children's comedy series, produced by Southern Television for ITV, based on the books by Barbara Euphan Todd. Starting in 1979, the programme starred Jon Pertwee in the title role and ran for four series in the UK until 1981. Channel 4 reprised the show in 1987 as Worzel Gummidge Down Under, which was set in New Zealand.

New Zealand's Governor General requires a scarecrow to prevent the eating of his beautiful lawns, so the Crowman summons all of his greatest creations to assess who is best for the job.
A nearby convent presents the Crowman with a challenge: the commission of his first female scarecrow.
After joining the Crowman at an art show, Aunt Sally is taken with the riches on offer for sale of a truly great work. Worzel, also, seeks fame and fortune - and intends to prove his own artistic talents accordingly.
Worzel and Blighty are sent away as punishment, travelling by train. After seeing members of the crew breaking for tea and cake, their attempts to get some for themselves see the train leaving the station with no staff on board!
Aunt Sally's greedy dreams of wealth lead Worzel, Mickey and Manu into trouble once more when she helps a waxwork pirate escape from a funfair side-show, in search of his long-buried treasure.
Worzel turns detective when one of the Crowman's prized possessions disappears whilst in his care, and Worty aides as his not-quite-so-able assistant.
Worzel succumbs to a severe case of the green-eyed monster when one of the Crowman's greatest creations, Weevily Swede, arrives back in town after a long time away.
Balbous Cauliflower is causing trouble when he should be minding strawberries. When the farmer has the crop treated with pesticides, Balbous takes the brunt of the gases.
Aunt Sally gets wind of a local beauty contest and is determined to enter - and win! A new dress and a makeover are called for.
As Worzel's predicament continues, Mickey and Manu finally convince the Crowman to do something - and organise a scarecrow funeral. Meanwhile, the prospector puts his captive to work.
Worzel hopes to keep out of trouble after the bad sign of a morning red sign, but Mickey and Manu soon call his help after discovering the Crowman is penniless and fending off bailiffs. Worzel, however, soon needs help of his own!
Aunt Sally is rather taken by her own skills when a touring provincial ballet company arrives in town.
